The magic of fireworks in St. Mark’s Basin
The most anticipated moment of the festival is the fireworks show that, on Saturday night, illuminates St. Mark’s Basin with plays of light and reflections on the water. Thousands of fireworks explode in the sky, creating a kaleidoscope of colours that stands out behind the city’s spires, domes, and bell towers, transforming Venice into a living postcard.
In the evening, the lagoon fills with illuminated and decorated boats, where families and friends gather to share a dinner on the open sea while awaiting the spectacle: a collective ritual that makes the Redentore a unique celebration.
The Votive Bridge and Celebrations
One of the most evocative images of the festival is the votive bridge of boats that each year connects the
Zattere to the island of Giudecca: a floating walkway over 300 meters long that allows participants to walk
to the Church of the Redentore, the spiritual heart of the festival.
The following Sunday, the celebration continues with religious processions and the traditional regattas on
the Giudecca Canal, bringing the festival into the heart of the Venetian summer.
