The art of glass between tradition and innovation
The Venice Glass Week is the international festival dedicated to the art of glass, celebrating one of Venice’s oldest and most distinctive traditions. Founded in 2017, the event promotes and highlights artistic glass as a contemporary language, bringing together history, craftsmanship, design, and experimentation.
The 2026 edition will take place from September 12th to 20th, involving Venice, Murano and Mestre in a rich, wide ranging program that transforms the city and the lagoon into a vast stage dedicated to glassmaking creativity.
During the week, the public can participate in exhibitions, installations, guided tours, workshops, conferences, and live demonstrations, hosted in museums, galleries, historic furnaces and urban spaces. The symbolic heart of the festival remains Murano, where the art of glassmaking has been handed down for over a thousand years and continues to renew itself thanks to the dialogue between master glassmakers, artists and contemporary designers.
The Venice Glass Week is also an opportunity for cultural and international exchange: the festival gives space to both leading figures in artistic glass and emerging talents, fostering the creation of new projects and the intersection of tradition and innovation. Glass thus becomes a tool for research, artistic expression and the narrative of the present.
